“Experiences Big and Small” and “Art for the Artist’s Sake” Opening Reception

Arts Council of the Valley (ACV) celebrates the opening of two new oil painting exhibitions at Smith House Galleries on July 5, with a reception 5-7pm during First Fridays of the Valley! "Experiences Big and Small" features works by Debra Keirce and "Art for the Artist’s Sake" highlights creations of Trudy L. Cole. Join us for the opening reception, sponsored by an Anonymous Fund of The Community Foundation of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, to meet both artists and enjoy light refreshments while exploring their artwork! more

June 15, 12-5: Best.Weekend.Ever.   OASIS always participates in this wonderful downtown event!  In addition to artists set up outside OASIS, Sarah Lock and helpers will be running the tote bag painting tent.  Jan Riddleberger and Barbara Camph will be managing the community mural.  And we will have a custom-made putt putt hole on the Water Street side of our building. more

May 4, 12-4: “Day of the Arts” in Harrisonburg!!!!!!  The on-site OASIS activities will include demonstrations by Natalie Darling, Delaney Westwood, Bill Nelson and Shelley O'Connor.  Other members (Brenda Fairweather, Jackson Taylor, and Bahir al Badry) will be at OASIS to answer questions about their processes and suppliers (or any other questions you may have).  Cousin Jimmy’s Stringband will be playing outside OASIS; bring your dancing feet! more

Reception at the Library to open the “Wild and Wonderful” show

“Grown, Built, Seen” and “The World of Black and White” Opening Reception

Arts Council of the Valley (ACV) celebrates the opening of TWO new exhibitions at Smith House Galleries on April 5, with a reception 5-7 pm during First Fridays of the Valley! "Grown, Built, Seen" by Trotter Hardy and "The World of Black and White" by Saul Harris both feature detailed photography from all across the globe. Local poetry group First Monday Poets share their own work inspired by four photographs from each exhibition during the opening reception, where you can visit with the artists, enjoy a live poetry reading, and sample light refreshments! more
