St. Patrick’s Day is wildly fun in downtown Harrisonburg, where all the businesses chip in with something special to make this holiday stand out. Whether it’s a featured food item at a local restaurant or a one-of-a-kind activity for the occasion, this year’s St. Patrick’s Day is sure to be the best you’ve ever celebrated.
Green brews and great tunes:
If you’re looking for your beer fix this weekend to help welcome in the celebration, many downtown breweries will be offering something unique just for you. Restless Moons Brewing will have some specialty green beer for customers to try, and from noon to midnight you can come enjoy a plethora of live music to fill your night. Three Notch’d Valley Collab House will also be selling their own green beer and a variety of St. Paddy’s inspired Irish bites to eat. Happy hour is from 4pm-9pm, with live music. Brothers Craft Brewing will also have specialty beer, great food, and live music for the holiday weekend!
The Golden Pony will be hosting a late-night dance party from 11pm-1am on Friday, featuring DJs from the JMU EDM Club. The dress code is “green,” so make sure you’re pinch-proof before hitting the dance floor!
Also, a can’t-miss St. Patrick’s Day Weekend is being held at Pale Fire (Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday). They’ll have yummy $3.17 pints of award-winning Red Molly Irish Red Ale all weekend long. Make sure to get your tickets soon to enjoy a weekend full of beer and unbeatable live music. Don’t miss out on the festivities!
A taste of Ireland:
Another great way to spend any holiday is with delicious food. Jimmy Madison’s Southern Kitchen and Bourbon Bar will be prepping specialty Irish foods for the public like shepherds hand pies, haggis, fish chowder, and many more mouth-watering favorites. This is also one of the many locations downtown serving their version of green beer; why not taste them all? Your next stop has to be Jacktown: Billy Jack’s and Jack Brown’s. Jack Brown’s will be featuring a variety of craft Irish-style beers like reds and stouts, along with their Lucky Leprechaun Burger which is loaded with Wagu corned beef. Billy Jack’s will have Guinness all day plus many featured beers, along with their signature sandwich of the day: the Reuben.
5K of family-friendly fun:
For the finale to your St. Patrick’s Day experience downtown (and to make up for all the calories that are too good to pass up), sign up for the Shamrock 5K Trail Run. This event encourages all participants to dress up in their most decorative St. Paddy’s attire and give it their all on this Hillendale Park 5K course. They even have a Pot of Gold Kids Fun Run, so the entire family can get involved. Enjoy all the fun downtown has to offer and have a safe holiday weekend!
