Friendly City Finds: Shoes, Chocolate and Halloween

October 26, 2018 by Guest

Our favorite finds in downtown this week include a giveaway, sales on chocolate and shoes (isn’t that everyone’s dream), Halloween events and a shout out to a few products that popped up in an unexpected place online.

1.FALL GIVEAWAY – Want a chance to win a 14 karat gold pin decorated with precious amethyst and pearls from James McHone Jewelry?  Stop by Oasis and enter their fall giveaway. The drawing will be held at the end of this month, and with a generous donation, you may have extra chances to win.

2. Already missing summer? Look forward to warm weather with a brand new pair of sandals.  Walkabout Outfitter is having a sale on select Chacos while supplies last. These shoes are also perfect year-round. Just pair them with socks. For every pair of Smartwool socks sold at Walkabout Outfitter through the month of October, Smartwool is donating $5 to support our local Blue Ridge Land Conservancy (up to $1000). Be sure to shop around for your other hiking essentials and ask the employees their favorite places to hike, camp, and day trip. The staff at Walkabout are outdoor experts!

3. Get your chocolate and coffee fix at Ten Thousand Villages ! If you buy 3 bars of their organic, fair trade chocolate then you get the next one free. They have so many mouth-watering flavors including mint crunch, caramel, and classic milk chocolate. They also have a coffee and chocolate pairing sale. What goes together better than coffee and chocolate?

4. Halloween is only days away, and The Artful Dodger has an awesome lineup! From, October 27th – 31st, there’s a lot happening, from live music to dance parties to their Halloween Bash.  Show up in your best costume for the contests at midnight. We heard that Glen’s Fair Price is the best place to get your costume!

5. Virginia Living Magazine just launched a new online store and we spotted some Harrisonburg-based products on the list. Our very own Lineage has three products that are featured, including tote bags, leather key clips, and a set of four Virginia leather coasters – all hand-made by owner Paul Hansbarger!
