3-2-1, Happy New Year!: Downtown Harrisonburg’s New Year’s Eve Weekend Roundup

Are you ready to count down to 2022? Usher in the start of the new year with family, friends, and community in Downtown Harrisonburg! Some of your favorite Downtown businesses are offering up special events, promotions, and extended hours, check out the roundup below to plan your festive weekend.

Also, scroll to the bottom to see various businesses that are closed for New Year’s Day.

Special Accommodations & Dinner at Hotel Madison

Hotel Madison is offering a 2-Night Stay Package to extend the celebration through the holiday weekend! It includes a special accommodations rate, champagne & chocolates in the room, discounts on dining, and more. Also, the nearly twenty Christmas trees will still be up through the New Year! Singer Maggie Antone will be performing New Year’s Eve in the lobby.

For the occasion, Chef Beau Floyd has created a special three-course dinner menu that will be offered on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 from Montpelier Restaurant and Bar and Jan. 2 from Quills lobby bar. Reservations are encouraged. Please see their website for details and dinner menu.

Live Music at OASIS Fine Art & Craft

Enjoy hits from past and present performed live by Dwight Martin at OASIS Fine Art & Craft. This free performance will be from 7 – 10 PM on New Year’s Eve.

NYE Party at Golden Pony

Join the Golden Pony in the biggest party of the year with DJ Golden Boy, GJ Guate, and DJ Kamm. This event is 21+ with $20 cover charge. Dress to impress!

New Year’s Night Party at Friendly City Dance Room

Join the Friendly City Dance Room on Dec. 31 from 9 – 1 AM for dancing and fun for all experience levels. This event includes a half hour Salsa and half hour Kizomba lesson for $10 social is included with the class. 

Films at Court Square Theater

Court Square Theater has resumed movies! Catch showings of Belfast, Being the Ricardos, along with the Royal Opera House’s “The Nutcracker” Dec. 31 – Jan. 1. See the full schedule of films and purchase advanced tickets on their website.

Games & Karaoke at Sage Bird Ciderworks

Sage Bird Ciderworks will be open for extended hours for New Year’s Eve. They will remain open until 12:30 AM. They’ll have a range of games and puzzles out in the main taproom, karaoke in The North Wing, a photo booth to commemorate the evening, and a midnight toast to the New Year!

Bring all the snacks you could ever want, order dinner to the taproom, and stay awhile!

Celebrate at Brothers Craft Brewing

Stop by Brothers Craft Brewing to celebrate the new year with some locally crafted beer! They will be opening at noon with 13 beers pouring, specialty taps, and to-go beer discounts to get you ready for the ball to drop. 

Festive Brunch at Magpie Diner

Magpie Diner will be celebrating New Year’s Day with a special brunch available Saturday 10 AM – 3 PM and Sunday 9 AM – 3 PM. Magpie Diner will be closed December 24 – 31 for a staff holiday break.

New Years Closures and Limited Hours

Agora Downtown Market

Agora Downtown Market (including Tare Refill Shop, Broad Porch Coffee, Charlee Rose Boutique, Heartworn Vintage, Lineage, Rocktown Yarn, Shenandoah Hemp Supply, and A Little Bit Gilded) will be closed Jan. 1 – 8.

Friendly City Food Co-Op

The Friendly City Food Co-Op will close early on New Year’s Eve (at 6:00 PM) and will be closed on January 1 for New Year’s Day.

Massanutten Regional Library

Massanutten Regional Library will be closed January 1 and will also be closed the following week January 3 – 8, 2022 due to painting of public spaces.

When MRL reopens on January 10, patrons will enter at our old Rockingham Public Library entrance on Newman Street until painting of our Main Street atrium lobby entrance is complete.
