Remembering An HDR Friend

May 1, 2014 by Guest
David Denman’s tragic death on March 26th was a tremendous loss to HDR, downtown, and as a very close friend and colleague, me personally. I wish to pay tribute to David’s life and remember his significant contribution.

David joined the Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance Board of Directors in 2007 and served as chair of our Economic Development Committee with commitment and distinction. David’s involvement with downtown was not because he was on the HDR board. David was on the HDR board because he genuinely believed in the revitalization of downtown and took great pride in its progress.

David attended meetings regularly and when special events needed volunteers, he was often the first to step forward. As a commercial real estate agent, David frequently listed properties and promoted downtown, often helping organizations such as the Friendly City Food Co-op and The Fairfield Center to find just the right location at little or no compensation.

In recognition of David’s significant dedication and contribution to HDR and downtown, the HDR executive committee has begun exploring options to permanently honor his service. We are honored and humbled by the family’s decision that donations can be made to HDR in David’s memory.
