With the 14th annual Valley Fourth celebration in the books, our summer department intern Ryan Winfree recently sat down with the DuPont Community Credit Union team to talk about their experience as the title sponsor of one of Harrisonburg’s largest festivals.
Ryan: Tell us about DuPont Community Credit Union?
DCCU Team: Founded in 1959, DCCU is a full-service financial cooperative with 11 locations throughout the Shenandoah Valley. We have three locations in Harrisonburg, including our newest location that is situated on the corner of South High Street and Erickson Avenue. We offer all the products, services, and technology that you would expect from a large financial institution, with the personal service you’d expect from a local establishment. DCCU is a community credit union, which means if you live, work, worship, or attend school in our field of membership, you can be a member.
Ryan: It’s great that DCCU is so focused on our community. How else is DCCU involved in the community?
DCCU Team: DCCU is highly involved in all of the communities we serve, both through sponsoring community events such as Valley Fourth, and through the time that our employees devote to community service through organizations such as the United Way. Our past community involvement in Harrisonburg includes events such as Bowl for Kid’s Sake and Relay for Life, and in the coming weeks you will find us at the Rockingham County Fair and the Harrisonburg International Festival.
Ryan: Why did DCCU decide to sponsor Valley Fourth 2015?
DCCU Team: Community involvement is at the core of who we are. We are always looking for new ways to serve our members as well as the community at large. Valley Fourth is a wonderful event with free fun for the whole family, and we felt that sponsoring Valley Fourth was a great way for us to give back.
Ryan: With so many events going on throughout the day at Valley Fourth, which ones did you get to enjoy?
DCCU Team: We were able to enjoy the live music and People’s Choice tasting at Turner Pavilion, and we had a great view of the parade from our booth in Court Square. Some very lucky staff members were also able to help judge Grillin’ at the Pavilion, which was a real treat.
Ryan: What was DCCU’s favorite part of the festival?
DCCU Team: There were so many fun things going on, but our favorite part of the day was getting to connect with the Harrisonburg community and sharing about all DCCU has to offer.
Ryan: Is there anything else you would like to add about DCCU or your experience as our title sponsor of Valley Fourth?
DCCU Team: We were glad to be part of Valley Fourth and want to thank everyone who came out. At DCCU we put our members first by constantly striving to provide the best products and services.
