This workshop will promote painting through mindful, intentional listening. Participants will come to appreciate how certain sounds can move their imaginations and, surprisingly, influence their artistic expressions. To help us understand how sound can influence artistic expression, we will refer to the paintings of Wassily Kandinsky. All materials and tools, including brushes, charcoal, watercolor and acrylic paint, marker pens, and pastels will be provided. Participants should bring a journal or sketchbook and any favorite materials they might want to incorporate into their artwork. This workshop will be taught by
Deborah Coffey, who has taught art to adults and children both domestically and internationally and who is also a certified mindfulness instructor. Located in Pavilion at EJC Arboretum.
