By popular demand, I am now introducing a new offering at Mashita: cooking classes! Join me in learning some essential cooking skills, vocabulary, and techniques that you can use at home to make beautiful and delicious kimbap!
What is kimbap?? Kimbap is a popular Korean food that resembles sushi! Kimbap uses seasoned sesame oiled rice, protein, and veggies, while sushi typically uses vinegar seasoned rice and seafood!
You will gain knowledge and experience with me, Chef Mikey Reisenberg, in the Mashita kitchen on Sunday, December 29th with a group of up to 10 other participants for a class that lasts approximately 1 hour. Groups larger than 10 may be able to be accommodated with additional planning and discussion. Please call or send us an email to MashitaLLC@gmail.com to discuss classes for groups that exceed 10 guests.
Some things we will cover in the class:
-Kitchen vocabulary: an introduction to relevant terminology to build your knowledge and enable a smooth transition to future cooking classes at a higher level
-Basic cooking techniques: you will learn how to prepare your ingredients for making kimbap, including blanching, knife skills, how to saute, and rolling toasted seaweed sheets.
-Assembly: how to roll and slice your kimbap, and then take it to go or enjoy immediately!
-Optional Adult Beverage Add-On: choose a selected sake cocktail or glass of wine to enjoy while learning, or while enjoying the product of your labor! +$7 Must be 21+ to enjoy alcoholic beverages. Payment must be made in person at the restaurant, with applicable taxes added.
**Please feel free to bring your own apron or knives, if desired! Participation in this cooking class is express consent to handle knives, use cooking appliances, and to remove any liability from Mashita and its affiliates.**
Payments for class participation are made by credit card once you select the Book Now option. Refunds will be given to those who give notice within 48 hours of the class.
