Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance is celebrating the start of summer all across Downtown Harrisonburg.

This family-friendly event features a variety of activities and entertainment spread throughout the district for all ages. Listen to local live music, wonder at magicians, engage with community art projects, try out arts and crafts activities, indulge in food specials at restaurants, explore food trucks and vendors, enjoy Sip & Stroll, and more!

Featured Activities

  • Enjoy live music from local bands and artists across multiple stages downtown.

  • Enjoy free kid-friendly activities, including crafts, interactive art, games, giveaways, and more.

  • Downtown turns into a putt-putt course during this summer festival! Grab a putter and a ball and enjoy some family-friendly competition.

  • Sip & Stroll is an element of our events that replaces the usual beer garden. Adults aged 21+ can purchase a beer, wine, or cocktails at a participating brewery, cidery, or restaurant and enjoy it while strolling downtown.

  • Celebrate 15 year of the Friendly City Food Co-op with free face painting, lemonade bar, in-store scavenger hunt, craft, inflatable, petting zoo, shaved ice, balloon twister, and cake.

  • Take part in summer camp themed festivities for all ages!

    Earn merit badges as you Sip & Stroll your way down Liberty Street, engage with activities and booths, discover pop-up vendors, enjoy live music, play lawn games, make arts & crafts, and more at participating businesses. Collect ten merit badges and earn an exclusive Downtown Harrisonburg iron-on patch!

  • Join The Good Father Project for card making and read the award-winning essays.

  • Stop by the Speech & Language Center for sensory-friendly programming including a sand table, bubbles, crafts, and access to an on-site sensory gym.

  • It's the Best.Weekend.Ever...FOR DOGS! Find plenty of activities for all ages around downtown, but there's only one place where four-legged furry friends are the star of the show.

    We'll have "doggie" pools, free tennis balls, an agility course, bubbles, misting station, and more!

  • There are rubber ducks hidden at downtown businesses? Find one to take home! If there’s a star on the bottom, you’ve won an extra prize! Come to the HDR booth to claim it.

  • Check out this pride market for vendors in the valley who are either a part of the LGBTQ+ community or allies.

Event Parking

There will be ample event parking in downtown Harrisonburg for Best.Weekend.Ever., including additional private lots open to the public on the event day. Main Street, from Campbell to Wolfe St, will be closed from 8 AM - 7 PM, but parking will be accessible from Mason Street and Liberty Street.

Public parking is available all day in the municipal parking lots in blue and in additional Saturday Event Parking lots indicated in green on the map on this page. Street parking is also available on Liberty Street between Grattan Street and Warren Street.

Guests will be able to park in hourly spots without time penalty. Please adhere to any posted tow-away zones, accessible parking spaces, and Restricted Parking areas.
