Serving up Indonesian food in a cozy café in the Ice House, Boboko brings a little piece of true Indonesian culture to downtown! The chef and owner, Ridwan, was born and raised in Indonesia, where he first fell in love with cooking. Since then, he has many years of experience under his belt, as well as receiving first place in Harrisonburg’s very own “What’s Cooking Program” competition. It was this win that he feels truly inspired him to open up Boboko.
The menu features traditional Indonesian dishes that use spices such as ginger, galangal, lemongrass, nutmeg, and more, which work together to create a warm, unique flavor. Tempeh teriyaki summer rolls, papaya ring salad, and Indonesian fried noodles are just a few of the delicious dishes customers can find on the menu. They also offer a selection of unique desserts such as mango ginger Nutella spring rolls, fried bananas, or, Chef Ridwan’s signature, French macarons.
