Hopper's Slogan
Happy Dogs Refresh Paws-itive Vibes (HDRPV) 🐾
Hopper's Platform
Harrisonburg is a great dog friendly city and I am thankful for that, my sis Elle is too. We Love to walk the paths and visit all the parks quite often. We like the woods and all the places with all the smells. We Love walking downtown on the safe sidewalks because there is a lot of people food I always catch scent of. And I love Jack Browns Cheeseburgers, I get one every time on my Birthday which just happens to be when all the leprechauns come out in March.
But if I were to change or add something to this Beautiful City. . .
1st: I would add a dog park that I knew would be safe for my sister, she’s a lot younger right now and doesn’t always play like some other dogs. All of us have a great place out here, but I’d just want to make sure it’s ok for some dogs that might be a little scared to go meet new friends, and it would be nice to have something like that, even if there were different areas for different types of dogs, or even an have an area that we could pay a little bit to use. As our city grows, we want to welcome all dogs… and humans as well. There are more of us moving to Harrisonburg everyday and want to make it the best that we can. We are all in this together, whether you have 2 legs, or 4.
2nd: “Downtown is Paw-some”, maybe a parade, maybe treats from local restaurants, maybe more dog friendly places to go and see. We like all the things you do. Maybe xtra treats!.
Hopper's Favorite Downtown Business and/or Event
I like going to Jack Browns to get a Cheeseburger 🍔 on my birthday, but I also like going to Palefire Brewing 🔥 because I often see my friends there. Walkabout Outfitters is always cool because they give out treats and have really nice people that work there. Klines also has pup cups and they have the best ice cream for us 🍦

About Molly
Meet Molly: An Australian Shepherd with brains, fluff, and a heart as big as the dog park. Known for her lightning-fast zoomies, impeccable side-eye, and natural ability to keep everyone in line with a little nip — Molly is ready to trade in her squeaky toy for the keys to City Hall.
Molly's Slogan
The Fluff You Can Trust to Herd the Pack!
Molly's Platform
1. No Pup Left Behind - Molly was born to herd, and she takes it seriously. She’ll work to keep every citizen — canine or human — connected, included, and moving in the right direction.
2. Parks, Not Politics - She believes in more green spaces, more sniff spots, and free poop bags for all. Molly will push for expanded access to dog-friendly areas and regular “sniff & mingle” events.
3. Ban the scary lawn mowers- Under a Molly administration, lawn mowers will be banned until the hoomans come up with a better solution to keeping lawns tidy without the scary noises.
4. Chase More. Love More- Molly is focused on harmony. While she’ll keep a close eye on squirrels and mail trucks, her motto is “paws before panic.” However, she will implement monthly “chase days” where all the herding doggos can live out their chasing dreams.
5. Leadership That’s Fluffy But Firm- Don’t let the floofy tush fool you. Molly may look like fluffy cow, but she runs a tight pack. Expect accountability, belly rub diplomacy, and a firm stance on regular walkies.
6. Anti-Shedding Stigma Ends Now - As a proud fluffball, Molly supports policies that embrace long-haired pups, de-shedding resources, and the right to leave a little hair on everything you love.
7. Lamb Chops for All – her most important act in office will be giving every Harrisonburg dog citizen two free lamb chops per year.

Molly loves Geeks Who Drink Trivia at Pale Fire and meals at Mashita on their back deck.

About Sasha
Sasha is a black and tan Lab mix from an SPCA in Pennsylvania! She was being fostered by someone who had plans to use her as a service animal for her child. That did not work out, unfortunately, Sasha was too skittish. Although not fit for a service dog for a human, she was an excellent and patient canine companion for Luna her “older (dog) sister” for nearly 13 years! Sasha is well traveled. She has visited 30 states and lived in 6 — PA, NY, NH, VA, NC, NV. She has done many cross-country trips and has visited at least 9 National Parks! Sasha has great polite manners, loves children, never jumps up, rarely barks, and is always willing to accept a treat. Her hobbies include bird watching, paw licking, going out for several walks a day, and lounging in the air conditioning on her many orthopedic dog beds. Her favorite household routine is meal time! She always hops around when her meal is being served! Like most Labs, Sasha loves to eat, so her humans watch her serving sizes. Sasha is an old girl at 13.5 years old. She has a little arthritis these days, but Dr. Moser at Heartland Vet takes good care of her.
Sasha's Slogan
Let’s eat!
Sasha's Platform
More treats!
Sasha's Favorite Downtown Business and/or Event
Sasha loves Clementine Cafe!
About Freddie
Freddie is Lab/Boxer blend, but prefers the title of dogicorn! Freddie came to Virginia via a rescue in Texas. He spent a year in a local boarding facility waiting for his forever human. Sunny Ridge Kennels trained him up well, loved him up, and brought him to meet folks at yoga classes held at The Center. That’s where he met his forever human, Dr. Alex. The two bonded instantly. Freddie kept coming in from the kennel for yoga, and worked on his fear of big buildings, stairs, doors…he’s really become accustomed to city life, and has quite the social circle downtown these days. He settled into his apprenticeship in physical therapy immediately. He provides full body wags, hugs, and emotional support for not only Dr. Alex’s patients, but often pops into Pilates, or yoga classes to lend a paw.
Freddie's Slogan
BARKS4PARKS
Freddie's Platform
Don’t we, as the emotional regulators, and bringers of joy to humans deserve; nay; REQUIRE a park to decompress at after a long day of being a “therapy dog”? Our humans are all about health and wellness. Well, what about our own? My pawtners and myself bring you: BARKS4PARKS!
We are currently working on grassroots efforts for the most olfactory friendly, modern bark park for all wags of life. Think of this more like a large sports training campus, but with the layout of a botanical garden, and the functionality of an integrated wellness facility for dogs and hoomans. Our smart bark park offers varying levels of cognitive activity for the working hounds among us, WiFi for the working hoomans, and has secluded areas for the more senior members of our community that just prefer to sunbathe. Snack stations & potty pick up stuff sprinkled throughout will provide cleanliness and sustenance. We are holding a donation drive for anything bacon flavored, toys for all chew preferences, and balls, balls, balls, balls, balls. Join us on our campaign to bring an outdoor olfactory learning lab, decompression and puppy play date destination to our community here in the Friendly City! BARKS4PARKS!
Freddie's Favorite Downtown Business and/or Event
The Center! That’s where I spend my working hours. When I’m not needed for pets, I join the group fitness classes, or oversee the gym operations. Sometimes, I nap in the lobby, letting everyone walking by know we’re open. I like it when I get to meet everyone as they arrive in the lobby.
My hooman loves to frequent all the best downtown establishments when we’re off. We go to Jack Browns, Three Notched, and Pale Fire most often for foodies.

She provides comfort and unconditional love to everyone she meets. She also accompanies child victims to court. Fun fact: Naia was the first Facility Dog certified in Harrisonburg-Rockingham’s Circuit Court to help children testify during jury trials. Outside of work, Naia enjoys playing with her canine sister Rikki, swimming, and carrying stuffies in her mouth.

Naia's Favorite Downtown Business and/or Event
Naia enjoys visiting the Harrisonburg Farmer’s Market every Saturday morning with her paw-rents and sister. Her first stop is always Broad Porch Coffee where she can sit outside and greet people as they walk by. Naia has made many friends at the Farmer’s Market, but her best friend and cheesy bacon supplier is Jennifer at Thistle Hill Pet Treats! Naia is always included for outdoor meals at Jack Brown’s, Mashita, and Magpie Diner. She looks forward to a dessert dog bowl at Kline’s Dairy Bar. Naia goes to work every day at the Ice House. She makes a quick stop at Drifter’s Cafe and then goes up to the Collins Center, a local nonprofit where she supports child and adult victims of sexual violence. Naia loves Downtown Hburg events like Best Weekend Ever and Skeleton Fest because she gets to meet so many friendly people! She was also a frequent guest at the Leavitt AMP Harrisonburg Music Series throughout the summer. Naia’s favorite stop of all is Blue Ridge Dog, where she stocks up on treats and toys! Downtown Hburg has lots to offer for both humans and their canine companions.

Parker wants to make sure Harrisonburg is the top choice for visitors and locals alike who want to enjoy a dog-friendly lifestyle!
2. Barks for Local Business:
Parker has his paws in all the best local spots! Being able to join his mom downtown means they can support businesses even more often. About Pavlova Buttercup
Pavlova Buttercup (P.B.) is a Staffordshire Terrier/Pitbull who was found by Wags & Walks Rescue in Nashville, TN, severely underweight with a litter of seven puppies that look just like her. I fostered her and fell in love, adopting her after two days. She has gained back all her healthy weight and still nurtures her rubber pig like it’s one of her own babies. Now she is healthy, happy, and loves to play fetch and tug of war. Most of all she enjoys her time playing with friends at Happy Hounds Doggy Daycare and getting lots of love from people at downtown businesses and events!
Pavlova's Slogan
More Pups More Places
Pavlova's Platform
PB doesn’t tolerate the heat well and wants to see more public water fountains (with dog bowls!) stationed throughout downtown. Obedience training has made PB more calm and confident and she believes that every dog should have access to training! Free public workshops or credits to attend a few classes could make a big difference for a lot of local dogs! PB would like even more establishments downtown to have dog-friendly spaces, extra treat points if there’s a pup-safe snack available! She or rooftop access that overlooks the city streets so she can watch all the people and puppies pass by from her perch.
Pavlova's Favorite Downtown Business and/or Event
Kline’s! She gets so excited for her dog bowl ice cream treats. The farmer’s market is a favorite of P.B.’s, she’s always trying new treats, scrapping rogue bread on the ground, and engaging with the public!
About BeBe
Bebe is a Bernese Mountain dog who was born on a Virginia farm, one of 11 siblings. BeBe’s parents came from Ukraine and Belarus, and she is proud to live in an amazingly diverse city. Her regal look belies her working dog background. BeBe’s ancestors in the Swiss Alps worked hard on small farms, hauling wagons of milk and cheese to market. This is one reason why she is so found of the Harrisonburg Farmers Market. (The other reason is treats). She works hard to keep the streets clean of leftover pizza crusts and other food waste. BeBe can be found most evenings, patrolling the pedestrian-friendly streets of downtown, where her approach to people is to roll on her back and insist on belly rubs.
Bebe's Slogan
Big enough to do the job. Sweet enough to care.
Bebe's Platform
BeBe lives downtown and loves it. She believes that every dog is born with the right to have a fun, carefree life filled with friends and puppy energy. Despite being a silly beast, BeBe has done her homework and is ready to get to work on day one for all the people and creatures of Harrisonburg. Creating a thriving downtown takes all of us and BeBe has the strong back and dedicated spirit to pull the leadership load.
BeBe would love to see a new park downtown. She’d love to see Blacks Run cleaner and healthier for her friends the ducks. Bebe envisions streets where she could pull a wagon, kids can ride their bikes, and customers can easily reach all the businesses.
BeBe has her nose to the ground and is always sniffing out the next good thing for downtown. She knows the mayor doesn’t make their own rules. BeBe has studied the Pet Policy at the Farmers Market and vows to faithfully execute the laws to the best of her ability. If elected, she’ll be working for you!
Bebe's Favorite Downtown Business and/or Event
Bebe enjoys the Harrisonburg Farmers Market, Pale Fire Brewery, Blue Ridge Dog, Shenandoah Bicycle Company, PULP, Clementine Cafe, all street festivals and parades, and any night when the sidewalks are busy with people.

He loves his toys dearly and treasures them. They stay looking new because he could never hurt his friends…which means Berkeley has A LOT of toys. He once had the wing of a stuffed duck fall off as a puppy and he gently carried the wing around for weeks. Berkeley is friendly to all and always wears a smile that brings joy to everyone he meets.
Berkeley's Slogan
Spreading Smiles in the Friendly City – Vote Berkeley, a Leader You’ll Love
Berkeley's Platform
Monthly “Friend of the Month” Newsletter As Mayor, Berkeley will launch a monthly digital newsletter celebrating a new “Friend of the Month” — a heartwarming story featuring a shelter pet, therapy animal, or community service hero. Through these stories, Berkeley hopes to raise awareness about local shelters, therapy animal programs, and ways everyone can get involved in making The Friendly City even more welcoming.
Each issue will also include a special section highlighting fun activities for his furry and human friends happening around The Friendly City — because every month should be filled with smiles, wagging tails, and togetherness!
The Friendly City Dog Festival Berkeley’s biggest dream is to host an annual Friendly City Dog Festival — a celebration of friendship, community, and of course, dogs! The festival will include:
A Morning Dog Walk to kick off the day
A Fashion Show for dogs of all styles and sizes
A Dog Talent Show featuring tricks, agility, and adorable antics
Pet Adoptions to help loving animals find their forever homes
A Therapy Dog Comfort Zone designed especially for elderly and disabled residents to enjoy gentle visits
Food, Music, and Fun for the entire family
Because in Berkeley’s world, a great city isn’t just built on policies — it’s built on paws, smiles, and community spirit!

Berkeley loves pup cups at Kline’s and eating al fresco at Pale Fire Brewing Co.!

He woos the hearts of everyone who meets him. (Which is good for him because he will never pass up the opportunity to get pets!) Tater loves treats and will do anything for one. So much so that he taught himself to ‘“sit pretty” when he realized everyone gave him so much attention and treats when he does it! He loves to cuddle! Rosie's Favorite Downtown Business and/or Event
I walk downtown with my mom a few times a week to help her manage the community food scrap drop-off bins near City Hall. We often end up at Coffee Hound where my friend Nancy always has a pocket of treats for me.
On our walks, I’m vigilant about cleaning the sidewalks of food crumbs and can highly recommend the pizza pieces outside Benny’s.
My other service project is helping the occasional RHSPCA foster dog adjust to home life. I’m so good at it, we got to keep the last one and I now have a kid sister, Cookie!
On many Saturdays and Tuesdays we hang out at the Farmers Market with vendor friends and the Market crowd which fawns over me because I am so (unpretentiously) cute.
Though I’m a no-frills type of girl, my occasional essential apparel needs are perfectly met by Blue Ridge Dog and Thistle Hill Pet Treats. They sure know how to make me feel special.
My favorite event of the year is Max’s Treat Heist! I invite all my besties to come with me and do downtown for a cause and cookies!
Smithland Dog Park is my favorite place to play. I always make new friends and am teaching Cookie the ropes.

About Marley
Marley is a 15 year old Cocker Spaniel and an unofficial (but highly effective) lifelong service dog, proudly represents his family’s business, Dirty Dog Carpet, Surface & Duct Cleaning. These days, he rides proudly alongside his dad, Justin, performing estimates and job site visits like a true professional. Despite his age and a few well-earned aches and pains, Marley’s work ethic is unmatched—he’s out the door and on the job more days than not, determined to keep Harrisonburg clean, safe, and full of heart. He brings a calm presence, a kind spirit, and an unexpected passion for ducks that keeps everyone smiling. And when the workday wraps? Nothing beats a well-earned pup cup to celebrate a job well done. Gentle with every pawstep and loyal to the core, Marley isn’t just running for mayor—he’s rolling up in the work van, ready to serve with soft eyes, steady paws, and a heart full of love for his community.

About Teddy
Teddy is a rescue pup! In 2023 Teddy was adopted by his mommy and daddy after being surrendered by his original owner due to an illness. Ever since Teddy has fallen in love with his new family as well as his new family has fallen in love with him. Teddy loves to go for walks, rides, playing football, eating ice cream, and most of all spending time with his family. Teddy was rescued by a Westie rescue organization because the original owner was told that Teddy was a true Westie. When we adopted Teddy we knew he had something else as a mix. So we did a DNA test to find out and it showed he is 73% American Eskimo 21% West Highland White Terrier, and 3% Keeshond. We were excited to see what his DNA tests showed and thats how we figured out he is a Westimo. Something special about Teddy is that he LOVES to smile! He likes to put a smile on everyones face and be goofy. In a way to spread Teddy’s love and smiles we created a social media account for him on Facebook and Instagram. We really wanted to have something where we could hold memories with him but also share his happiness with the world. Teddy likes to keep a routine, and he lets mommy know every night when its time to take his medicine and brush his teeth. We believe Teddy would be a wonderful mayor of Downtown Harrisonburg because he has found his second life here in the Friendly City. He is ready to share his love with you all!

About Harley
Harley is a two-year-old West Highland White Terrier (Westie) with a big heart and an even bigger personality. Born to be a star, Harley quickly became the unofficial “Mayor of the Sidewalks” in downtown Harrisonburg, charming every shopkeeper, pedestrian, and coffee drinker he encounters. His hobbies include cruising the streets of downtown in his mom’s convertible, conducting impromptu sniff inspections at outdoor patios, and hosting his signature “meet-and-greets” at Court Square, where he graciously accepts belly rubs and compliments from adoring fans. Harley lives in a lively, pet-loving household and shares his home (and occasional spotlight) with his famous sister, @Downtown_Mittens — a sassy tuxedo cat who’s been eyeing her own leadership role in Hburg. He also keeps a watchful eye on his two feathered sisters, Lucy and Paulita the chickens, and enjoys playtime with his two human brothers. When it comes to toys, Harley has no favorites — because he loves all of them! But if he had to choose, it would probably be the dryer balls he stealthily steals from his mom’s laundry room… every chance he gets. Harley has a special talent for making everyone smile, whether he is showcasing his playful zoomies or patiently waiting for pets from passersby. He is proof that good things come in small, furry packages.
Harley's Slogan
Harley for Mayor: Barking Up All the Right Trees!
Harley's Platform
Harley believes Downtown Harrisonburg should be as tail-waggingly wonderful for pups as it is for people! Harley is a true ambassador of joy and is committed to making the Friendly City friendlier for our four-legged citizens. With his nose to the ground and his heart in the right place, Harley’s vision is one where pets and people thrive together — exploring, playing, giving back, and building a stronger, more compassionate community.
As Dog Mayor, Harley will champion a platform focused on connection, kindness, and community engagement, where every dog has a voice (or at least a good bark!) and every Harrisonburger is part of a more pup-inclusive downtown.
Here are Harley’s top priorities:
🐶 Host a Downtown Dog Day Festival with splash pools, treat stations, a costume parade, and community dog adoptions!
🦴 Encourage downtown businesses to provide water bowls, shade spots, and treat jars so pups feel as welcome as their humans.
🌳 Advocate for a downtown dog park or designated green space where dogs can roam, play, and make new furry friends off-leash.
📜 Create the “Paw-triot Pledge” – a special partnership with businesses that commit to being dog-friendly and supporting animal rescues. Participating businesses receive a sticker to proudly display in their windows signifying their commitment to Hburg pooches!
🍻 Establish monthly “Yappy Hours” at local breweries, cafes, and outdoor patios to benefit local shelters and celebrate Harrisonburg’s dog-loving culture.
🎁 Launch the “Paw It Forward” campaign – encouraging local kids to adopt a pet nonprofit for their birthdays by collecting supplies for shelters like the RH-SPCA and Anicira instead of receiving gifts. Harley believes that even the smallest hands can make the most significant difference for paws in need.
📚 Start “Tails & Tales” storytimes with local schools and libraries – where kids can read books to shelter dogs, boosting literacy and lowering anxiety in both species!
With his paws-on leadership and commitment to joy, generosity, and plenty of pup hugs, Harley is ready to lead the pack and ensure Harrisonburg remains the Friendliest City on Four Paws!
Harley's Favorite Downtown Business and/or Event
Harley’s favorite event in Downtown Harrisonburg is the Rocktown Turkey Trot — a Thanksgiving morning tradition that combines fun, fitness, and a sense of community. While Harley may be small, his zoomies are mighty, and he loves cheering on his fellow runners (especially the ones in turkey hats!).
From the festive costumes to the four-mile course winding through his beloved Friendly City, Harley is always eager to sniff out the action and soak up the energy of the day. Whether trotting along with his humans or offering moral support from the sidelines, Harley believes the Turkey Trot embodies everything great about Harrisonburg — togetherness, joy, and a dash of quirky fun.
As Dog Mayor, Harley hopes to one day introduce a “Turkey Trot Tails Edition” — a pre-race dog dash or costume parade for pups who want to join the celebration too!
