The Friendly City Food Co-op is excited to host a special presentation by Monica Robinson of the Shenandoah Valley Black Heritage Project (SVBHP), offering an in-depth look at the stories behind the co-op’s café exhibit, What Has Gone Before… 1850–Present. This unique display highlights the history of the land the co-op occupies and its connections to broader Shenandoah Valley narratives. Guests can enjoy snacks from Black-owned brands while exploring the powerful stories that shaped the community. Monica will also share insights from SVBHP’s Roots Run Deep tours, which explore significant historical sites across the Shenandoah Valley.
Support the impactful work of SVBHP by rounding up purchases at the co-op’s register from February 2–8. Every contribution helps preserve and share the rich heritage of the region.
