There is plenty to love in downtown Harrisonburg during the month of February! Follow your heart and celebrate locally this Valentine's Day. Here are a few ideas for you!
Valentine's Day special Events
1) Love Letters to Downtown Harrisonburg
Share what you love about downtown by writing a love letter to the people and places that make it a special place for you. Stop by withSimplicity anytime between Noon and 6pm on Valentine's Day to write your love letter. Long or short. It can be a poem or a song. Draw a picture or create a card. Share your love for our city in your own way. HDR plans to share your love with our dedicated business owners and friends by delivering the letters during National Small Business Appreciation Week, April 29-May 5. 2) Share the Love
The businesses in the south-west corner of downtown are hosting a "Share the Love" campaign from February 1st to February 14th. "Check in" on Facebook at any of the participating businesses (or fill out a card while you're there) between the 1st and the 13th and be automatically entered into a drawing for gift certificates, products, memberships, and more. The winners will be announced on Valentine's Day. Share the Love at any of the following businesses: Black Sheep Coffee, The Hub Coworking, Hugo Kohl, Boboko Indonesian Cafe, Blue Ridge Dog, The Center, Breathe, Rocktown Kitchen, Food.Bar.Food, Salon 11, Pale Fire Brewing, The Mark It, Gaines Group Architects, and Blue Ridge Architects.
3) Cupid Crawl
For the second time, Arts Council of the Valley (ACV) will be hosting their Art Crawl fundraiser event, the Cupid Crawl on February 14th. Local artist Laura Thompson will guide guests throughout five of downtown Harrisonburg's art venues: ACV's Smith House Galleries, Wilson Downtown Gallery, Shenandoah Joe, Hess Financial, and Larkin Arts.
At each stop, guests will enjoy drinks and appetizers while learning from and engaging with Harrisonburg artists on some of the community's newest creative projects. After the tour, ACV's Court Square Theater will be offering free entry to that evening's film! Tickets are $50 per individual, $90 per couple, and students will receive a discount of $40 per individual, $75 per couple.
4) Valentine's Day Beer Paired Dinner with Mashita
Three Notch'd Valley Collab House and Mashita food truck are teaming up for a 6 coursed beer dinner at the taproom on February 14th. The dinner and pairing will cost $55/person (plus tax and gratuity). Reserve your spot by calling the Taproom or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org before it sells out. Menu is to come!
5) Popcorn and a Movie Night
Brothers Craft Brewing will be hosting a Valentine's Day Popcorn and a Movie Night with a special Valentine's Day popcorn from PrePOPsterous and a viewing of The Princess Bride at 8pm. The afternoon will kick off with Brothers' usual Wednesday Happy Hour with discounted drafts from 4-6 pm on February 14th.
6) Valentine's Day Party
Pendleton Community Bank is hosting a Valentine's Day Party on February 14th, where there will be a photo booth with fun props, popcorn, cookies, refreshments, and more. This is a great opportunity to take a fun picture with someone you love and share it on social media using the hashtag #yourbank!
On Valentine's Day
On February 14th, enjoy specials and live music at Rocktown Kitchen. Specials will run from Valentine's Day until February 18th. Their Valentine's Day menu features a soft shell crab for a starter, seared rockfish fillet or grilled filet of prime beef tenderloin as an entree, and chocolate mousse and peanut butter cheesecake for dessert.
Magnolia's Taco & Tequila Bar
Take your Valentine to Magnolia's to share an appetizer, 2 main entrees, and 1 dessert, for just $25 on February 14th! Plus, why not have one of their mango, raspberry, or organic lime margaritas while you're there?
Enjoy 14% off lattes at Shenandoah Joe on Valentine's Day. All lattes will have a heart shape design in them!
Boboko Indonesian Cafe
At Boboko, get ready for a special sangria drink and desserts menu, such as the chocolate almond cake (pictured below), from 4:30-8pm on Valentine's Day. Chef Ridwan is bound to have something lovable up his sleeve for this occasion, especially his French macaroons!
Little Grill Collective
The Little Grill will be open for dinner on February 14th for you and your Valentine to enjoy dinner together! From 6-9pm, the Little Grill will be offering a 3-course dinner, with options that range from rosemary polenta cakes to braised pork cassoulet to chocolate mousse. Reservations are required for entry, so don't forget to reserve your spot by calling 540-434-3594 during their business hours (7am-3pm).
Restless Moons Brewing
Looking for an alternative to the typical Valentine's Day activities? Head to Restless Moons Brewing for a free comedy show, "Killing Cupid - Comedy vs. Valentine's Day," taking Saint Valentine down a couple of pegs. The show starts at 8pm and will feature: Dylan Vattelana, Brandon Beswick, Paige Campbell, Liz Carr, and Anthony Thompson.

For dessert, enjoy their chocolate strawberry verrine and/or goat cheesecake.
